We enjoyed working with The LeBeaus, Jonathan White, my sister Melissa Copeland and my brother Aaron McCarty

I will try to post some pictures soon.

Quick Update

It's been awhile since I've posted so I thought I'd give you a quick update. We are as busy as ever. My wife (Tammy) and my sister (Melissa) just returned from Louisiana. They really surprised our son Jimmy, his wife Tiffany and the grandbabies. Tammy called Jimmy from her cell phone as they were walking up to his door. As they were talking, she was knocking and he said "hold on someone's at the door." It was classic.

Our son Joshua came home from the hospital today. He had to have his appendix removed. He had been in the hospital since Friday of last week. He had to have a seconded surgery because of internal bleeding. Thank the Lord everything is fine now.

Keep us in your prayers.

Weekend Trip

We had a nice weekend getaway over new years weekend. We left Friday morning and went to Charlotte, NC to spend some time with my brother Robert and his wife Tammy. We really enjoyed the time we spent together. On Saturday morning we met some good friends (Tim and Susan LeBeau) for breakfast. We left on Monday the 1st to come home. It didn't seem to last long enough. My brother Robert and I even took some time to write a song together entitled "This By Faith I Know" I was very happy with the way it turned out. His wife Tammy treated us to some of the best southern home cooking a person could dream of. Including collard greens and black-eyed-peas.

Thanks! Robert and Tammy for a great time. We truly enjoyed it.

My Friend

As many of you know, I have been writing songs for several years. A few weeks back God gave me the words and music to a song that has ministered to my heart during this time of tragedy that our family has faced. We have had many friends visit, call, pray and send cards. And their support and friendship means more than words can express. But this song talks about our greatest friend, Jesus. And in the past several days he has proven his friendship to me time and time again. As you read the lyrics below please realize that he wishes to be your friend as well.

My Friend

VS.1 I found a friend today when I knelt down to pray
And he listened to the burdens of my soul.
His grace and mercy, he freely gave to me
And when I rose I knew that he was in control.

Chorus. His name is Jesus, the greatest friend I know
He shares his time with me because he loves me so
And in my darkest night, he then becomes my shining light
So if you’re tried within, I recommended my friend.

VS. 2 Now if you find your life is full of care and strife
And it seems as if your troubles have no end.
Then find a place to pray, oh and don’t delay
For in that quiet place is where you’ll find this friend.

Tag. And in my darkest night, he then becomes my shining light
So if you’re tried within, I recommended my friend.

Picture of Jacob

Here is a picture of Jacob. It was taken a few months ago. The Funeral Home printed it on canvas to resemble an oil painting. The scan is taken from their edited version.

We miss him so much. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

Saturday, A Very Hard Day

Saturday the 16th of December was one of the hardest days of our lives. My wife Tammy and I buried our 18 year old Son, Jacob Wesley. He will certainly be missed. His smile, his humor, love for children, his ability to put you on the spot, and most of all his heart of gold. He had an amazing ability in which he could have you angry one minute and laughing the next.

He loved to ride motorcycles, 4-wheelers, horses and would do just about anything if there was a little danger involved. He also loved to cook believe it or not.

As many of you know, Jacob was not our biological child. My wife’s sister (Melinda) was tragically killed in February of 1990 almost 17 years ago. She was 24 years old. Jacob was 2 years old at the time and we immediately took him as one of our own boys. We had 4 boys for several years. From the oldest to the youngest. Jimmy, Daniel, Joshua and Jacob. Derek would come along several years later in February of 2000. Making Jacob a big brother for the first time.

It is so hard to believe he’s gone, so it is with a heavy weeping heart that I write these words. For now he lies beside his first Mother, but I’m looking forward to the day when we shall see them again.

So for now I say……. Goodnight Son, I love you!
